With the recent news about COVID-19 diagnoses in Ulster County, NY, I am writing to reassure you that AR Music Therapy is following these developments closely. Nothing is more important than the safety of individuals we serve, and we are putting extra attention into infection control.
We are following a review of recommendations from the CDC and the American Music Therapy Association, as well as local school and government agencies and we will continue working with our clients in a manner that minimizes infection risk.
The music therapists who we contract to provide services have been advised to wash hands or use hand sanitizer before and after contact with clients and to take extra precaution and care to clean and sanitize musical instruments and items used in music therapy sessions, lessons and classes, as well as minimize the number of instruments used that are difficult to clean.
We have also advised on ways to minimize physical touch during greetings and sessions without compromising the quality of our music services.
When you hired board-certified music therapists, you hired folks who know what to do to reduce the spread of infection. Infection control is one of the competencies covered in music therapy education and training, and is tested on our board-certification exam.
We also consider it an ethical obligation to stay home when sick, and ask that you notify your music therapist or instructor if you are showing any signs and/or symptoms of illness.
We value working with you and in navigating this public health concern together. As always, thank you for the opportunity to serve you!
